"Basically, this is a top tier hotel. No complaints at all. Totally worth the money for any occasion. We were able to book a hotel room during the Japanese Golden Week holiday and it worked out no problem. The one little draw back is that you have to be aware of the tram that connects mainland Kobe with the island the Portopia sits on. If you are in Kobe to party and miss the last train, you are in for quite the walk or a cab ride that will cost a few thousand yen. Nothing major, but slightly annoying, so I knock it down one star. Incidentally, road runners pack your shoes because running around the island is great! Flat, but you can really run for quite a bit. Good for stretching the legs and keeping in shape. Shoppers, you are around the corner from IKEA! Nuff said. "

"The lobby is spectacular. The restaurant also has a great view of the bay. It is near the Earthquake Institute which is a must see in Kobe. The staff is very friendly and professional. The Bell Captain who assisted us was very fluent in English. They also recommended one of the best Kobe Beef restaurants in Japan which I thoroughly enjoyed. Hotel Okura has lots of amenities that includes an indoor pool and sauna. However, you have to pay for them separately. Their shuttle service going to Sannomiya is of course free. Aside from the price, this is an excellent hotel to stay in. "

"As I booked hotels quite late, most Kobe hotels were full though I originally wanted to book a hotel near Sanomiya. But it turned out to be a good experience since the location is excellent, just minutes away from JR Kobe station by passing through the underground mail. The nearby is very quiet with walking distance to Harborland and Anpanman Museum. However I’ll still recommend to stay at Sanomiya if having many luggage since Sanomiya is the traffic hub."

"We had a decent stay at this hotel. The rooms were large and we had a great view over the city and the bridge, in the distance. The rooms were a bit tired but pleasant. We were excited about the gym but it turned out not to be free to people staying in the hotel. Breakfast was okay. The biggest downside is that the hotel is a very long way outside of Kobe. A plus is that the train station is right beside the hotel, which is also beside a large department store which had great food. "

"the ana crowne plaza hotel kobe is connected by a covered walkway to the kobe shinkensen (bullet train) station. it is also connected to a subway station a few floors below the surface and to shops and restaurants. the hotel is beautiful inside and out and located at a higher elevation looking down on kobe and just next to the mountains. i had beautiful views of the city, harbor, verdent islands and the mountains from my standard rate room. the hotel has a nice large pool and small but nice and well equiped fitness center. there is a small outdoor track with a rubberized surface on a ledge outside the fitness center with spectacular views. juse outside the hotel one can take a tram up into the mountians. "

"We had an AMAZING 2-night stay at Kobe Minato Onsen Ren: - Free shuttle bus from the hotel to Kobe Sannomiya Station (approx. 9 minutes), comes every 20-30 minutes - Clean, spacious, and beautiful hot spring area. They have about 3-4 different types of Onsen baths, which was very nice. Available both indoors and outdoor. - The room was very spacious and cozy. We had the room for 4 adults, which meant 2 beds + 2 futons, with a balcony for a sea view. - Our favorite part was the hotel breakfast and dinner buffets. They were very delicious, not to mention high-quality food (beef, crab legs, sashimi, etc). Won't even give this up for Kobe beef lol - Extremely friendly, polite, and helpful staff :) Overall, we had a wonderful time staying at this hotel. Will return! 10/10"

"Maiko hotel is located near maiko station located at the far west which is more like a old folks town where everyone is retiring and taking things slow n easy. Exit maiko station turn right n right walk straight to the elevator , take it down to ground floor for your free shuttle bus to maiko hotel. Once inside the room you would be greeted with great view of Akashi-kaikyo bridge. 2 super single bed and 2 futons bed great for families with kids. You can try visit the following..... eat and shop at sannomiya station, take a cab to kobe port tower, port of kobe earthquake memorial park, walk to shinkaiji subway station visit the Fukusenji temple next to it before heading to japan No.1 Onsen over 1000 yrs history which is known as Arima Onsen. If you going to Arima onsen take subway at shinkaiji station and sit all the way to Arimaguchi station cross over to take the only train to arima -Onsen station.Alight and ask control station for the map about 10 mins walk up to the Onsen, there is the big Onsen and e smaller Onsen if you are tight in budget can go for e smaller Onsen.Try it you won't regret it the spring water is red in color."

"We had a great stay at Yumekaiyu Awajishima Resort. They were very accommodating to our family and gave us recommendations and answered our questions in English since we have limited Japanese. Our room was great and we had a view of the water. We had a large space for our family - the adults stayed in western beds and the kids were happy to have their own space on the futons in the tatami room. The breakfast buffet was large and had a great variety of Western and Japanese food options. We would definitely stay there again!"
