Kaohsiung City hotels & places to stay

Good hotel and excellent staff! But only one concern (probably just in my opinion) that everything feels old... the decor, the ambiance, all the appliances and electronics in the room. It is most ideal if you use the room just to rest. Kaohsiung is a great city and I found myself out and about most of the time. So, I'm okay with it. Will definitely stay at this place again.

This is our second time staying at Kindness Hotel in Kaohsiung. We picked this particular hotel for its proximity to the train station/MRT. Check-in and out was a breeze. We had booked two double rooms and were given 2 triple rooms. We appreciated the extra space. Rooms were spotless. The hotel is walking distance to a night market nearby. And supper is now provided as well at the hotel besides the free coffee/tea/drinks & ice cream. There is a laundry area (washer & dryer) too, which we find useful. Always a great stay when we are at Kindness. Looking forward to our next trip.

I stayed two night in this hotel. It was a real pleansant stay. The location was great 100m away from formosa boulevard Metro station and within walking distance to Liou He Night market. The decor was posh for its size and the rooms were amazingly spacious and classy. Breakfast was held on the 15th floor where you are overlooking Kaohsiung City. Definitely recommended for Couple or single people

A typical 5-star hotel with luxury renovation and friendly staff. Hotel room with balcony having an excellent view. There is a large indoor car park and it is free for hotel guest. Location of the hotel is a little bit far from Kaohsiung downtown. There is a huge shopping mall next to the hotel. Just need to take 3 minutes walk to Zone C of the shopping mall and you need another 7 minutes walk to another end (Zone A). The E-DA theme park is next to Zone A of the shopping mall. If you don't want to walk, you can take a shuttle bus from the hotel to Zone A directly. This E-DA area is built for leisure and entertainment. You can enjoy 1-2 full days there.

This may be a new small boutique hotel, but the room is big, clean and comfortable. What really surprised us is that they provide imported mineral water and L'occitane toiletries! This is really beyond our expectation given the price we paid for the room. The hotel is well located with Liuhe night market and the MRT station only about 5 mins walk away. Overall experience with Design Inn is good. The staff are nice and friendly, though 1 or 2 of them are not very sure when we asked for directions and recommendations for what to do and see in Kaohsiung city. And, we were a little shocked when we first arrived, as the front facade of the building looks deserted or unfinished. We were later told that the ground floor is actually a design art gallery that is currently still under construction.

Very close to houyi mrt station. When you have arrived Kaohsiung train station, just take the mrt to houyi mrt station, it's only one station away. Very convenient. The location of this hotel is 100m away from houyi. We booked two nights in Kaohsiung. However, due to the sudden change of our itinerary, both of us decided to forfeit the second night. The staff was kind enough to help us upgrade to two double beds during our one night stay :)

Pros: location was great since it was just walking distance from the MRT, Green LRT,shopping malls and the Kaohsiung Exhibition Convention Center. Sliced fruits were offered free daily (except Saturdays), the receptionist were kind and courteous. The rooms were spacious and neat. Toiletriesw ere provided, and warm shower was available in the room. Cons: no free sluced fruits on Saturdays, because the fruit store is closed on Saturdays. It was a bit confusing to find the lobby since the men at the front desk entrance to the building did not understand us, he directed us to a different entrance, when we were already in the correct entrance. We just had to go to tue 12th floor lobby. Over all we had a great stay and enjoyed the space in our room. It was good value for money.

We were not sure what to expect with the Grand Hi-Lai Hotel. Taiwan is filled with mediocre hotels that do not live up their price or prestige. We stayed in a Superior room with a view of the city and was pleased. Nothing about the hotel will blow one away. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and spacious. The bathrooms were clean, comfortable, and solid. Nothing was particularly special, but definitely worth the money to avoid staying in a run down hotel. Certainly the hotel could feel a bit more modern than the faux-European fancy decor suggested that seems [unfortunately] popular in "expensive" Taiwanese hotels. Service in the hotel was impeccable, and I rarely care about such a thing. The pool was quite nice [one of the reasons we booked here, as there are few hotels in Kaohsiung with nice pools], though the rule that one has to wear a swimming cap is just ridiculous [I know this is common in Taiwan-- but certainly is not Western tourist friendly]. Location is excellent. A few blocks to the Harbor/Love River and a few blocks to the Central Park area and MRT. So, if you are in Kaohsiung for a few days and want a comfortable room with a view, good location, and a pool, this is a good bet. I would likely stay here again.

Stayed at Greet Inn after exploring other highly rated hotels in Kaohsiung. Glad we booked with Greet Inn. It's a newer hotel and very well decorated and furnished. It's close to a 7-11 and Family Mart for drinks and snacks. It's about 20 mins walking to Liuhe Nightmarket and 10 mins to the nearest MRT station. For the price of the hotel and the amenities, this hotel will be on my list of must stays in Kaohsiung.

we stayed for 1 night at 56th floor, the view is really awesome facing the kaohsiung city elevator is fast enough to reach high floor. location of the hotel is quite good near to mrt and easy to get any taxi. the room is clean and the space is ok. however we felt that the bed is a bit hard. we've found that most of the hotel in taiwan has a hard surface, probably the local prefer the hard bed. it is good if the guess can request the bed according to their preferences. the best thing of this hotel is the breakfast which provide much of variety and quality food. check out is really efficeint, bell boy come within 2 minutes, and check out is very smooth, within 5 minutes we managed to settle everything, it is very important for business hotel to be efficient. overall, the hotel is awesome and we will recommend anyone who want to have great view and variety of food.

Love the hotel's minimalist decor. Hotel is located less than 3-min walk from Exit 2 of Kaohsiung Arena MRT station (R14 and hence, probably why hotel's English name is as such) & short walk to RuiFeng Night Market. There's also a Hanshin Arena Shopping Mall beside and not to mention, Kaohsiung Arena which is a common venue for concert in Kaohsiung. Laundromat is a bonus. Only minus point is the vegetarian buffet breakfast. While still a decent spread, variety is compromise due to the vegetarian nature of it.

This review refers to the city twin room with harbour view. What drew me to pick this hotel for my first visit to Kaohsiung were the less obvious reasons that there were next to no hotel rooms in the city with both a balcony and a (gasp) washlet! Those not familiar with the latter, it is a wc with water spray which for me is indispensable coming from Japan. Didn't matter the summer temperatures reached 35 and 101% humidity but what is a harbour hotel without a balcony and a view to complement! Mine was adequately spacious and I can imagine a lot more time spent lounging outside in the cooler months. A caveat at this point that not all rooms have both these and if they are important make sure you select the correct one. Mine was called city twin room with harbour view but there may be others. So let's look at the pros. The room was spacious, clean and visually pleasing - interior understatedly stylish and new. The bath area was functionally laid out with separate toilet and shower/bath with vanity outside so they can be occupied by different users. The neighbourhood is pleasant and quiet surrounded by art installations and converted warehouses now home to local modern art. It is also suitably located for a visit to Cijin Island via ferry where you land smack at the seafood eateries and street stalls. The hotel is a 10-minute walk to the MRT and if this seems slightly less than convenient, taxis are relatively cheap in the city which is the alternative. I rate it 4.5 stars and would give 5 if some improvements were made. The room comes with a desk chair and armchair but lacks a side table which is problematic if you wished to lay out snacks and drinks. Inclusion of simple all weather furniture for the terraces would be sensible. At the moment if you wished to lounge outside you'd need to lug the room chairs out but have to place your Chardonnay and wine glasses on the floor for the lack of a table. chateau de chine hotel kaohsiung is one of the newly renovated hotels in kaohsiung. this means that the rooms are modern and well equipped for business visitors. i find it very convenient and easy to access to its wifi internet connection. it is very fast and always stays connected even if you leave your desk for a long while. the room i stayed was very clean, and the hotel staff were very attentive. it takes about 5 minutes to major department stores in central khh.

The location is very convenient, closely located to an MRT station, though after a long day of work arriving only in Kaohsiung at 7:30pm, we opted for the taxi from the HSR. It was about a 15-20 min taxi ride costing ~$230NT (this was due to Friday evening traffic. Our return trip back to the HSR was only $200NT with no traffic and speeding). Although it is located next to one of those 24hr Taiwanese arcades, the noise is not a problem once you enter the hotel on the 3rd floor. Upon arriving to our room, I discovered I made a mistake when booking on Agoda. I had booked the Elite Twin, which I was sure had the option of choosing between the 2 single beds or 1 double bed. I asked Charlie about this, and she went to double check my booking, and despite my mistake, she was kind enough to allow us to switch to a room with a double bed (a smaller Luxury Double Room perhaps?). On our second night, we were upgraded from the Japanese futon room to (what looks like) the bigger Luxury Double Room. Both rooms were very nice. Beds and duvets were very comfortable, and the bathrooms were clean. The bigger room's bathroom included a bathtub and a bigger shower. We particular loved the beautiful light fixture on the ceiling. it was dim enough not to be invasive, but bright enough to see everything. Breakfast was average. Not a lot of variety, especially if you're staying for a few days. However, no need to fill up on breakfast as you're in Kaohsiung with easy access to some of the most delicious seafood. But another bonus is that there seems to be a WiFi router set up in each room separately as your log in name is your room number.

The Howard Plaza is centrally located with a great view of the city to the north and south. It's a quiet hotel in a relatively quiet part of town. There are plenty of restaurants (e.g., Chinese, Tex-Mex, Thai, Vietnamese) that are all within walking distance. One of the main reasons we chose this place was it was one of the few with a pool that is open year-round. Many hotels in Kaohsiung close their outdoor pool down for "the winter", despite the city being in the tropics. It actually hit 30 degrees Celsius at the end of December, while we were staying there. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

Location of hotel was conveniently located near Yanchengpu MRT. Hotel does provide clear pictorial guide to get to hotel. We were really impressed with the artistic designs of the hotel, especially the corridor and the interior design of the room. They are unique and creative due to being near Pier 2 Art Center. Breakfast buffet had a wide variety of food with a great view of Yanchengpu at Level 8. Hotel staffs were helpful in advising directions and also coming up with suggestions of what to do at Kaohsiung (including romantic and scenic places). Overall, a good hotel to book to explore Sizihwan, Yanchengpu, Pier 2 Art Centre, Love River, Takao Railway Centre.

I booked this hotel mainly for its vicinity to my bridal shop in Kaohsiung, but it happened to be a wonderful stay for my husband and I. Like what other reviewers had mentioned, they provide free shuttle service to and fro Kaohsiung Main Station until 11 pm. You may call them from station and they are ever ready to pick you up! Breakfast is one major factor why my husband didn't mind waking up early every day. There is a variety of dishes cooked tastily, and their chef made effort to change their menu every day. They serve the best juicy scrambled eggs we've ever had! Room is clean, spacious and comfortable even for standard room. (p.s. Snacks and drinks you found in the room is FOC!) One of the nights we changed to a room with big Jacuzzi bath tub, and we felt like our mini honeymoon has just begun! lol We would like to commend the morning front desk staffs Agnes, Wendi, and another guy (forgot to take note of your name), and afternoon staff Eddie for their helpful and friendly service during our 1 week stay. Good Job guys!

After stayed at Bali H2O this hotel in Kaohsiung really meet my expectation, despite the good facilities such as the roof top swimming pool, gym & executive lounge at 19th floor, the Hong Kong dim sum at second floor is delicious too. The only con of this hotel is the location of the hotel is not located in the city centre, and it doesn't have any MRT station near by, therefore you might need to consider taking a taxi to the nearest mall or point of attraction. The "Ripple" restaurant at the 20th Floor needed to be improve especially the breakfast, there is not much choice of food, coffee machine that run out of "coffee" and is not being re-fill for continuously two morning. Staff doesn't speak much English, therefore if you are not from a Chinese language speaking country, please do learn a few words for better communication. Overall is good, shall visit again in the future.

Excellent location (next to Kaohsiung Station just 1 minute walk),in the middle of the Kaohsiung city( i think), 20-minutes away from the Kaohsiung Airport by MRT. Room is clean and relative large (can fully open 29" baggage without blocking). Bed is large (Double bed room) No bathtub, just enterprise but i like it( maybe only my room type is enterprise). Shampoo, shower gel are provided. Staffs are nice and helpful. Even we are check in at very late night. 7-11 is very close to hotel, just 1-2 minutes away (typical Taiwan style, convenient stores everywhere). Fast food shop just next to hotel (MacDonald, KFC, Yoshinoya) its seem to open 24hrs. Apart from those fast food store, a lot of local Taiwan food store are also next to hotel (walk out the hotel, face to Kaohsiung station, left-hand side local food, right-hand side fast food) On the whole, its well worth the money

This is definitely the best hotel in Kaohsiung I have ever been, with about US$55 per night, you can enjoy a nice and clean room, with a spa shower, complimentary tea, ice cream, pop corn 24 hours a day! You can even have free laundry and bike rental service! Hotel is located a few mins from the biggest night market in Kaohsiung, but since it's located not at the main road, it's still quiet at night so you don't have to worry about can't falling asleep at night, The hotel provides free ear plugs in case you are worried. For those who need to measure blood pressure, you can even borrow a free blood pressure meter from the check-in counter. Or if you forget to bring your mobile charger or umbrella on a rainy day, just borrow them from the check-in counter too, they're all free!

M Hotel is very near the KMRT City Council (市議會) and the Formosa Boulevard (美麗島) stations. If you arrive at Formosa Boulevard or Kaohsiung Main Station, the hotel would be pleased to pick you up to the hotel for free. Let the hotel know at least 3 hours before your arrival. For us, the CHAIRMAN of the hotel came to pick us!!! It made our day especially the weather was hot (39 deg) and we were immediately treated with limitless ice-cream and popcorns and jelly and...our kids were just overjoyed with the cute monkeys at the lobby. It made us felt so at home. Our room was comfortable, house-keeping was super generous. We had an issue with ants on one of our beds, but it was taken care immediately. The Concierge is very helpful with suggesting good and affordable places to visit. Breakfast was awesome and very authentic local flavour. Eatery outlets are so conveniently near. We enjoyed every moment with the hotel, we will definitely come back whenever we come to Kaohsiung. 謝謝董事長親自來捷運站接我們！

It was our first time in Kaohsiung - a vibrant city filled with culture, history and art. KaohSiung Pier2 Hotel was located near Bo-Ai district, in which you can explore many places to inspire the artist in you. If you are a foodie, rest assured that you will have access to plenty of food near this area. If you are a couple, the love river is just in the vicinity - perfect for a stroll in the night. When i first booked the room, I could hardly believe the price i got it for. The staffs were exceptionally welcoming and accomodating. The room concept was simplistic, yet intricately. The semi-open concept appealed to me the most. Overall, i'd give this hotel a 10/10 for value for money.

This hotel is superb. We booked a family deluxe penthouse studio, big and clean two-level room with balcony, fitted with modern equipments and features, located near MRT (Kaohsiung station), 7-eleven nearby, friendly staffs, handsfree automatic toilet bidet, automatic curtain slider, great breakfast and has a lot of food varieties, snacks and unlimited drinks are available from afternoon till night at the hotel cafe for free! Impressive. Double thumbs up! Highly recommended hotel.
