A charming heritage hotel with excellent service and a great location I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at 1926 Heritage Hotel. Beautifully restored, preserving its colonial character while providing all the modern comforts. From the moment I arrived, the atmosphere felt warm and welcoming. Shout out to ALL front desk staffs~ OUTSTANDING!! The lobby and waiting areas are tastefully furnished with comfortable seating, and the cosy café offers both indoor and outdoor seating, making it a lovely place to relax. My room was spacious, clean, equipped with water filter machine dispensing hot/cold water, mini fridge and featured a huge balcony that was only a few steps from the swimming pool. The bed was wonderfully comfortable with a firm mattress and plush pillows, ensuring a restful night’s sleep. The shower had excellent water pressure and reliable hot water. The air-conditioning worked exceptionally well, temperature adjustable but not fan speed, so it may feel a little strong for some guests. The location is another highlight. Within a short 2–10 minute walk you’ll find plenty of cafés, local eateries, pastry shops, Athens Gym, and Giant supermarket. Georgetown and Gurney Drive are also only a short drive away, making it an ideal base for exploring Penang. Facilities include a Chinese fine dining restaurant, a gym equipped with free weights and cardio machines, a swimming pool, and a spa (appointments should be made at least one day in advance). The staff truly deserve special mention. Every member of the team I encountered was friendly, attentive, and always greeted guests with a genuine smile. Their hospitality made the stay even more enjoyable. My only criticism is the soundproofing. The walls are relatively thin, and I could occasionally hear footsteps, guests checking in or out, and the television from the room above when the volume was high. Fortunately, I stayed during the weekdays and was allocated the last room, which helped keep things fairly quiet. I suspect weekends may be livelier, particularly with families travelling with children. Overall, this is a delightful heritage hotel that combines colonial elegance, spacious and comfortable rooms, excellent service, and a convenient location. The minor soundproofing issue wouldn’t stop me from returning, and I would happily recommend it to anyone visiting Penang.

A lovely stay at the 1926 Heritage Hotel. The hotel truly lives up to its name, with so much of its original character and charm beautifully preserved. I especially loved seeing that even the unit numbers of the original homes have been maintained — such a nice touch that brings the history of the place to life. A charming spot with plenty of heritage character! Only downside, its facing the residence area and there was a puppy in distress nightly and day time too

Travelled in a group. The hotel is in a very nicely refurbished heritage building. Our rooms come with balconies that oversees the pool. Interior is tastefully done up and very nicely maintained. Staff are superb, friendly, helpful and professional. Not at the most central location but Grab in Penang isn’t expensive so it’s not really an issue for us.

The property itself is truly worth a short stay it is spacious, bright, clean, fully equipped, and features a stunning pool. However, the room temperature was a huge issue. I fully support eco-friendly concepts, but as a paying guest, comfort and a reasonable room temperature are basic expectations. It was so hot in the room that I was literally sweating. If a hotel wants to promote an 'Eco' concept, providing a ceiling fan or standing fan should be the bare minimum. Apart from being uncomfortably hot, everything else was great, but the heat really ruined the relaxation. Tips：In the hotel have Chinese Cuisine (ROOTS HOUSE by Gen) Beyond the incredible food, this restaurant has a unique soul. Personally, it’s an absolute must-try.

“A Comfortable and Memorable Stay in Penang”
We had a wonderful stay at 1926 Heritage Hotel and were impressed by both the facilities and the excellent hospitality provided throughout our visit. The hotel is conveniently situated within the city, offering easy access to a variety of local eateries and dining options. Several restaurants and food spots are located just a 5 to 10-minute drive away. The building has been beautifully renovated while retaining its heritage charm. Security is well considered, with two separate entry points that require room card access, giving guests added peace of mind. One of the most memorable aspects of the hotel is its thoughtful décor. The walls are adorned with beautiful paintings depicting various Penang attractions, providing guests, especially foreign visitors, with a meaningful introduction to the culture and landmarks of Penang. The reception staff, especially Harraz, were exceptionally polite, friendly, and welcoming. What stood out was Harraz’s ability to remember and address us by name each time we approached the front desk. Such personal attention made our stay feel warm and homely, almost like a homecoming experience rather than a hotel stay. The room was fully equipped with all the necessary amenities. A particularly thoughtful feature was the individual water filtration dispenser, which could dispense water at different temperatures. This was extremely convenient whenever we wanted a warm drink without having to boil water separately. Another thoughtful touch was the provision of a bedside torchlight, which could be useful during emergencies or for navigating the room at night without disturbing others. The hotel also provided a portable clothes steamer, a feature not commonly found in many hotels. This was especially convenient for travellers who wished to freshen up their clothes before heading out, demonstrating the hotel’s attention to guests’ practical needs and comfort. The room itself was very comfortable. The television was large, the air-conditioning worked perfectly, and the bed provided excellent support. Combined with the high-quality pillows, we enjoyed a restful and comfortable night’s sleep. The soundproofing was also impressive, as we could not hear conversations or movement from the corridor, ensuring a peaceful environment throughout our stay. The bathroom experience was equally outstanding. The shower system delivered water at the desired temperature within seconds, and the rain shower pressure was strong and refreshing. The shower gel and shampoo were of good quality and had a pleasant scent. In addition, the room lighting was thoughtfully designed, creating a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere without being overly bright or too dim. Overall, 1926 Heritage Hotel exceeded our expectations in terms of comfort, cleanliness, hospitality, and thoughtful design. With its excellent location, attentive staff, and well-appointed rooms, it is a hotel that I would gladly recommend to anyone visiting Penang and would happily stay at again.
